Upskilling Short Courses

Our Climate Change, Carbon, and Sustainability, Digital Marketing, Managing Transformational Change, Digital Business and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning suites are fully funded by the Scottish Funding Council.

Our Cybersecurity suite is fully funded by the National Cyber Security Centre through the Academic Centres of Excellence in Cyber Security Education.

All courses are free to applicants, credit-bearing and a recognised university qualification.

Please note: upskilling short courses are in high demand meaning there may be a waiting list.

The courses 

Delivered 100% online, they include recorded lecture content and carefully curated readings. These courses are designed for flexible study around your work and home commitments. The courses offer 50 hours of guided and independent learning over three weeks each.

Who are the courses for?

Our courses are suitable for a wide variety of people: those in work, the self-employed, managers and owners of small to medium sized businesses, those working in charities or third sector organisations and anyone interested in expanding their knowledge on specific topic areas.

There are no academic entry requirements, but you must be living in Scotland (with the exception of our Cybersecurity suite, which is open to learners across the UK).

Unfortunately, these courses are NOT available for those currently in full-time education.

How do the courses work? 

The short courses - within each subject area - build upon one another to create a complete skillset and knowledgebase. You'll benefit most if you complete all four courses within each suite, 但是如果你不能, you can take just one or two.

Qualifications

Each course is worth 5 university credits*. For each course you successfully complete, you will have 5 credits in the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). The SCQF supports all learners in Scotland for all levels of qualifications.

*with the exception of our AWS Academy Machine Learning course, within the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning suite, which is worth 10 university credits.
